About the role
We are building a next-generation platform for one of the UK's leading financial services providers — trusted by over 2 million clients and managing approximately £150 billion in assets. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer – React Native to join our Dealing Journeys squad, delivering critical capabilities at the heart of the investment experience. You will join our Trading Tribe — a domain responsible for end-to-end investment journeys, from pre-trade decision-making and order placement through to trade execution, delivering fast, reliable and seamless investing experiences at scale.
In this role, you will play a leading part in building exceptional mobile and web experiences using React Native and React, helping to shape the future of investing for millions of clients. While your primary focus will be on mobile engineering, you will work across the full technology stack, contributing to APIs, backend services and cloud-native platforms running on AWS.
As a senior engineer, you will help define technical direction, drive engineering excellence and champion modern development practices. Working closely with engineers, product managers and designers, you will solve complex technical challenges while delivering intuitive, performant and reliable user experiences.

What you'll do
- Design, build and maintain high-quality mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, adhering to engineering, security and regulatory standards.
- Lead technical discovery, solution design and implementation planning for new features and platform improvements.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers and designers to deliver exceptional mobile experiences for our clients.
- Integrate mobile applications with backend services and APIs to deliver seamless end-to-end customer journeys.
- Ensure solutions are reliable, secure, performant, scalable and maintainable through modern engineering practices.
- Drive engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code reviews, automated testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Own and optimise application performance, reliability, observability and state management.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines and mobile release processes.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support the ongoing evolution of large-scale enterprise applications.
- Use application metrics and monitoring data to identify opportunities for improvement and proactively address issues.
- Share knowledge, mentor other engineers and actively contribute to engineering communities of practice.
- Continuously develop your technical and interpersonal skills while helping to foster a culture of collaboration, learning and innovation.
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience developing enterprise-scale mobile applications with React Native and TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, design patterns and scalable engineering practices.
- Experience working with React Native styling solutions such as StyleSheet, Styled Components or Unistyles.
- Hands-on experience integrating applications with REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
- Strong understanding of state management patterns and solutions such as Redux, MobX or equivalent.
- Practical experience with automated testing frameworks including Jest, Detox and Testing Library.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across complex mobile applications.
- Experience working with brownfield applications and evolving large production systems.
- Experience building and maintaining mobile CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Strong focus on code quality, security, performance and maintainability.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional Agile teams.
Nice to have
- Experience developing native mobile applications using Swift (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android).
- Experience working with the React Native New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules and JSI).
- Experience publishing and maintaining applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Familiarity with mobile analytics, crash reporting and performance monitoring tools.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as financial services.
