About the role

This is a really exciting time to join Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) as we enter into the next stage of our transformation journey. We are looking for a Business Manager to join our people team and to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of HL's strategy. Working closely with the People Senior Management Team (SMT), the Business Manager will consolidate and drive execution of strategic and operational agendas across the People Team in line with annual priorities and business needs. The successful candidate will be supporting the Chief People Officer (CPO) with all people team related matters, helping to drive continuous improvement and engagement across the wider People Team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Coordinate across the People SMT to consolidate, prioritise and drive the execution of a forward looking People Team agenda.
  • Support the CPO in their role delivering on day-to-day operational matters as required to ensure the team deliver in line with departmental goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the SMT to lead on the production / drafting of papers, expertly narrating the people strategy and priorities through relevant Committees/Board.
  • End to end tracking of both SMT and Board/Committee agenda items, driving a joined up and cohesive approach in how these are articulated and delivered.
  • Provide thought leadership to the SMT using insight from market research and external benchmarks to help them to deliver on their innovative and ambitious strategies.
  • Build and maintain positive and trust-based relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration that positively impacts business outcomes.
  • Understand, actively participate in, and influence the broader people team projects to ensure a joined up and cohesive approach to activities.
  • Contribute to the creation of the people team engagement strategy, working collaboratively, taking the lead in pulling together and driving the execution of a comprehensive engagement plan.
  • Plan and execute both the SMT and wider people team operating and meeting calendar, including setting agenda and tracking actions to ensure continued engagement and collaboration.
  • Understand and support the People SMT to set and manage the departmental budget, ensuring effective cost management in line with the annual business review.
  • Support the CPO to ensure their SMF duties are effectively discharged, ensuring delegates undertake their responsibilities and the delegation map is kept up to date.

  • Must be a strong collaborator and able to think strategically.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects.

  • Navigating ambiguity and inspiring others, with a mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Broad understanding of HR and/or experience of working within a People function and/or financial services (desirable).
