About the role
Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) are recruiting for a Government Affairs and Public Policy Executive to join our team. This role will support the Government Affairs & Public Policy team with their successful campaigns to position HL as a thought leader through research, drafting consultation responses, organising external meetings and roundtables, and coordinating our views on key issues. In addition, this role will support the Director of Marketing as an EA. This is a really exciting role for someone with a strong interest in Politics and looking to start or progress their career further. Within this role there is an opportunity to develop your knowledge of Government Affairs and Public Policy but also to get involved and campaign for change.
What you'll be doing:
- Accelerating our policy campaigns on financial resilience & technology through supporting engagement meetings and planning and delivering events to support the Savings & Resilience Barometer.
- Working with the Head of Government Affairs and Public Affairs & the Senior Policy Analyst to draft consultation responses to Government and the FCA.
- Responsibilities will include engaging relevant parts of the business to ensure that our response reflects HL's opinions and drafting the response itself.
- Helping to support the senior engagement programme, including drafting briefings for senior stakeholders, drafting speeches, briefing them, and supporting them in meetings (taking notes etc).
- Monitoring political and regulatory developments through various news sources and sharing information with the business in the form of briefings.
- Developing a set of core lines so that we can consistently deploy our views across the business when speaking externally.
- Background research work to support policy work and campaigns including analysing what other stakeholders are saying and their positions and campaigns.
- EA to the Director of Marketing - managing diaries, meetings, and logistics.
- Working alongside the Marketing events manager to deliver marketing team events.
- The role will involve some travel to London to support external meetings.
About you:
- Excellent written skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
- A lateral thinker with a keen interest in politics and how policy impacts HL's business and our clients.
- A desire to grow internal and external networks.
- Ability to drive forward independent research work to support the team.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple projects.

The interview process for this role is 2 stages including a written task.
Working Schedule:
This role is based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This is a permanent full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern of working in the office and at home.
