We are recruiting an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a specialist SEND school in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SENCO who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs and wants to play a key role in shaping and developing SEND provision across the school.
The Role
As SENCO, you will lead and continuously develop SEND provision, working closely with the Headteacher, teaching staff, families and external professionals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading SEND provision, policy and inclusive practice across the school
- Coordinating EHCPs, assessments, annual reviews and statutory processes
- Developing personalised provision and support strategies
- Supporting and training staff in effective SEND practice
- Working closely with parents, carers and external professionals
- Coordinating multi-agency support including therapists, psychologists, health and social care professionals
- Monitoring pupil progress and the effectiveness of SEND provision
- Supporting safeguarding as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
SENCO Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- National Award for SEN Coordination, or willingness/eligibility to complete the required SENCO qualification
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCPs and statutory requirements
- Experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, speech and language needs and complex needs
