We are recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children's home, supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is an opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is confident leading shifts, supporting colleagues and maintaining safe, consistent care.
About the role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will take a lead role on shift, supporting children with daily routines, emotional wellbeing, education and development. You will oversee the smooth running of shifts, manage behaviours, respond to staffing issues and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times. You will provide guidance and supervision to staff on shift, modelling best practice and maintaining a calm, structured and nurturing environment for children.
What we are looking for
- Confident, reliable and emotionally mature
- Experience supporting both children and staff within a residential setting
- Level 3 qualification in Caring for Children and Young People
- At least two years experience working in children's residential care
- Confident driver with a full UK driving licence
- Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and best practice
- Experience leading shifts and managing day to day challenges
- Ability to manage children's behaviours calmly and consistently
- Experience supervising staff and supporting team development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Clean enhanced DBS, or willingness to complete one
