School Caretaker Specialist SEND School Location: Braintree, Essex
Salary: £25,000 £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Were looking for a practical, reliable School Caretaker to join a specialist SEND school in Braintree.
This is a hands-on role where youll take pride in keeping the school safe, secure, well maintained and welcoming for the children and young people who use it every day.
What Youll Be Doing Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
Opening, closing and securing the school
Completing regular building, grounds and safety checks
Basic plumbing, painting, decorating and handyperson tasks
Maintaining outdoor areas, gardens and play spaces
Supporting fire safety, health & safety and compliance checks
Liaising with contractors and reporting larger repairs
Keeping maintenance and safety records up to date
Helping maintain a clean, calm and well-organised school environment
What Were Looking For Youll ideally have:
Previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities or handyperson experience
Good general DIY and practical maintenance skills
An understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
The ability to work independently and spot problems before they become bigger ones
A reliable, organised and proactive approach
A calm and respectful manner around children and young people
Experience within a school, SEND, care or similar environment would be an advantage, but isnt essential.
