Design Retail Spaces Seen by Millions of Customers Worldwide
At Harding+, we design and deliver retail environments onboard cruise ships across the globe. Partnering with leading international brands, we create spaces that capture attention, influence customer behaviour, and maximise revenue in a fast-paced trading environment. Due to increased project demand, we are now looking for a Retail Designer to join our Bristol team. This role will play a key part in delivering multiple ship projects and ensuring we deliver commercially effective retail spaces from the very start of trading.
The Role
This is a delivery-focused role where design output and commercial performance are equally critical. In this role, you will take design briefs and translate them into visually compelling, high-performing retail environments, from concept through to delivery. Working closely with the Senior Design Manager, you will design store layouts, fixtures, and spatial concepts that reflect brand identity while optimising revenue per square metre. You will draw on retail trends, customer insight, and your own creative thinking to develop concepts that are both visually engaging and commercially impactful.
You Will
- Support the full design lifecycle from concept through to delivery
- Produce technical drawings and visual concepts
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Collaborate with commercial teams to optimise layouts and performance
What Makes This Role Different
This is not a traditional retail design role. You will be designing for a global customer base, across multiple cruise lines, brands, and regions, where every space must perform commercially. Your work will not remain conceptual - you will see your designs built, launched, and trading in real environments. This offers a unique opportunity to understand how design decisions directly influence customer behaviour and revenue performance.
About You
You are a Retail Designer, Spatial Designer, or Interior Designer with experience in commercial environments.
You Will Bring
- Strong creative and conceptual design ability
- Experience designing retail spaces or fit-outs
- Strong skills in SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite (Lumion and AutoCAD advantageous)
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- A commercial mindset, with an understanding of how design drives customer behaviour and sales
What You Will Gain
You will have the opportunity to see your designs built, launched, and trading globally, gaining direct insight into how design decisions influence customer behaviour and commercial performance. You’ll work with major international brands and cruise lines, while developing the confidence to take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing environment, working closely with experienced design, commercial, and brand teams, and building a strong understanding of how design integrates with retail strategy. In addition, Harding+ offers an annual bonus scheme, company pension, Westfield Healthcare, 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (with the option to purchase additional days), and a hybrid working model.
