This is not an agency role and not a maintenance-only position. You will be working directly inside the business on real-world ecommerce challenges with the ability to make a genuine impact.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Magento 2 Developer to join our in-house development team at our Birmingham Jewellery Quarter head office. You will work closely with our Head of Development and wider ecommerce team on the ongoing development, optimisation and scaling of our Magento platform and associated systems. This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex ecommerce challenges, working across both frontend and backend systems and contributing directly to a growing ecommerce operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Magento 2 frontend and backend development
  • Developing Magento modules and custom functionality
  • Theme customisation and frontend improvements
  • Supporting integrations with APIs and third-party systems
  • Website performance optimisation and troubleshooting
  • Supporting ecommerce operational workflows and automation
  • Supporting technical SEO improvements including site structure, page speed, indexing, schema markup and Core Web Vitals
  • Working collaboratively with the wider ecommerce and development teams
  • Contributing to ongoing platform improvements and future technical projects

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial Magento 2 experience
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, OOP and Magento's ORM
  • Ability to develop Magento modules and customise themes
  • Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Composer packaging system
  • Experience with Hyva Theme and Hyva Checkout
  • Familiarity with debugging and profiling tools such as Xdebug
  • Good understanding of Linux-based hosting environments including Apache and NGINX
  • Understanding of technical SEO principles within large ecommerce websites

Plus Factors

  • Experience with Android development using Kotlin
  • Experience with Windows application development using C#
