What the position is

We are seeking a Principal Quantitative Analyst specializing in Sports Betting to join our Quantitative Sports team. As the Principal Quantitative Analyst, you will play a leading role in developing and implementing sports simulations and mathematical models that drive our pricing strategies and risk management in the sports betting domain. This role requires an individual who\\\'s highly skilled in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and has a strong understanding of sports analytics and the sports betting industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sports simulation models to accurately price a wide range of sports betting markets
  • Contribute to the creation and improvement of algorithms for odds compilation and risk management across various sports and bet types
  • Work with data engineering teams to ensure efficient processing and utilization of sports datasets
  • Assist in implementing and improving models for live betting, taking into account real-time data and market movements
  • Conduct analysis of historical datasets to inform pricing strategies and identify potential risks
  • Collaborate with trading teams to provide quantitative insights and support for decision-making
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in sports and betting technologies, proposing new methodologies as appropriate
  • Mentor junior quantitative analysts and contribute to the analytical capabilities of the team

What we are looking for

  • Solid experience in developing and implementing sports models for pricing and risk assessment in sports betting
  • Strong expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning and predictive modeling techniques applied to sports analytics
  • Strong understanding of probability theory, stochastic processes, and their applications in sports betting
  • Experience with big data technologies for processing large volumes of sports data
  • Ability to work with real-time data feeds and contribute to models for live betting scenarios
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in analyzing sports statistics and trends
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating with and mentoring junior analysts in the sports betting domain

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field (Ph.D. is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of US Sports, including team statistics, player performance metrics, and league-specific betting trends
  • 5-8 years of experience in quantitative analysis, with a focus on sports statistics and sports betting
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, C++ or Python for model development and data analysis
  • Proven track record of contributing to the development and implementation of sports simulation models for pricing and risk management
  • Experience with odds compilation and pricing strategies across various sports and bet types
  • Strong programming skills and experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Solid understanding of the sports betting market, including different bet types, market dynamics, and regulatory environment

Preferred

  • Experience working with a sportsbook or Quantitative sports company
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance in the sports betting industry
  • Contributions to sports modeling projects or publications
  • Experience with real-time decision-making systems for live betting scenarios
