The goal is to create tools that feel \"dictaphone simple\" — something anyone can pick up, use without thinking, and put down again — designed with the same care and craft as the best consumer products. The role sits within the Product & Engineering department.### What you would do* Own design end-to-end, working closely with product and engineering, from talking to users through to shipping and iterating on finished software* Work with engineers on AI capabilities, translating what the latest models can do into practical, high-impact product features* Visit caseworkers and social workers in the field, observe how they actually work, and feed those insights back into design decisions* Evolve the design system, creating new patterns and conventions where none yet exist* Craft interactions so the product feels fast, reliable and a pleasure to use### What they are looking for* A product-first generalist with experience at a fast-paced startup or product-led tech company* Data-informed and outcome-focused, able to balance high-fidelity craft with quick mock-ups that engineers can build from* Strong at translating ambiguity into simple flows, turning vague conceptual problems into interfaces people immediately understand* A confident communicator who can align a team around a direction using both visuals and data* Comfortable working directly with engineers and PMs, sparring on trade-offs and open-ended briefs* Motivated by the mission of improving essential public services through design* Senior+ level; candidates who are more senior are encouraged to apply and discuss levelling### Working arrangementsThe role is based in London on a hybrid basis.### Pay and benefitsBase salary £85,000 - £115,000, plus equity.## DetailsLocation: London, UKOn-site or remote: Hybrid (London)Salary: £85,000 - £115,000Sector: Public servicesRole: Product designSeniority: SeniorOrganisation: For-profitThis job is listed on the Hard Problems job board, but details come from the employer’s own listing and may have changed — always check the original posting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
