The role
This position sits within R&D Digital and Technology, working across Medical Writing, Regulatory, Safety, CMC, Clinical and Publications.
The team designs and delivers digital products that transform how scientific and regulatory content is authored, reviewed and submitted.
As Senior Product Owner for Content Generation and Collaboration, you would lead the digital products enabling structured, collaborative and increasingly automated authoring of evidence and regulatory content.
You would represent technology for the content generation and collaboration workstream in a major strategic programme and mentor other Product Owners.
- What you would do
- Co-create the product vision and roadmap with business stakeholders, owning objectives, key results and the value case, and continuously testing ideas before committing capacity.
- Bring strong domain understanding of the evidence and regulatory content lifecycle, framing problems through jobs-to-be-done and challenging requirements that do not map to real user needs.
- Drive structured content capabilities, including modular authoring, component management and reuse, to improve the speed, quality and consistency of evidence preparation and authoring journeys.
- Lead as a technology partner, shaping trade-offs with architects and engineers, owning key technical decisions, and managing technical dependencies, non-functional requirements and technology risks alongside functional delivery.
- Work AI-first by using AI to accelerate discovery, drafting and scenario analysis for backlog decisions, coaching the team on responsible prompting, and judging where AI-assisted authoring adds value versus risk.
- Own end-to-end delivery of your product, including milestones, budget, roadmap and quality, validating value early through proofs of value and pilots before scaling.
- Build quality and compliance into delivery, safeguarding data integrity (ALCOA+), embedding Gx P, privacy and AI-governance requirements throughout change, and running risk assessments before major releases.
- Partner with and mentor colleagues across Medical Writing, Regulatory, Safety, CMC, Clinical and Publications, negotiating scope constructively and coaching junior Product Owners.
- Manage strategic technology suppliers and delivery partners to ensure deliverables, technical quality, documentation and knowledge transfer support the roadmap and GSK standards.
- What they are looking for
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a scientific, technical or related discipline (life sciences, computer science, engineering or similar).
- Significant experience in digital product management or product ownership in progressively senior roles, with the ability to independently own vision, roadmap and prioritisation for a complex workstream.
- Hands-on backlog ownership, including writing clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria, running refinement with engineering, and prioritising using structured methods (RICE, WSJF, Mo SCo W).
- Experience in pharmaceutical R&D, clinical development or regulatory affairs, with direct exposure to scientific, regulatory or medical content authoring.
- Proven track record of owning end-to-end delivery for digital products, including value validation through pilots or proofs of value before scale-up.
- Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, integrations and APIs, MCP, cloud environments, identity and access, data flows and non-functional requirements.
- Working knowledge of Gx P and validated systems, with sound data-integrity, quality and compliance judgement.
- Experience partnering with architects and engineers on technical trade-offs, with sufficient technical fluency to own product-level decisions and sense-check estimates.
- Demonstrated ability to work in global, matrixed organisations and influence cross-functional teams.
- (Preferred) Hands-on experience with structured content and component management, modular document design, or publications-management systems such as Veeva Vault, Certara Co Author or Arbortext.
- (Preferred) Experience with AI-assisted authoring or NLP-based solutions in regulated or scientific content domains.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with AI and ML solutions in regulated environments and associated validation and governance requirements.
- (Preferred) Experience leading a technology workstream within a large transformation programme in a complex enterprise environment.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with e CTD, structured content standards or the wider submission data landscape (e. g. IDMP).
