We are looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to support a growing pipeline of rail and infrastructure-led projects. This is a full-time contract role, working closely with a hands-on operational team.
The role will focus on pricing mechanical packages from design stage through to tender submission, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, technical understanding, and buildability.
Key Responsibilities:- Producing accurate take-offs directly from drawings
- Preparing detailed bills of quantities ahead of tender submission
- Pricing mechanical works based on design information and specifications
- Interpreting ITTs, technical documents, and works information
- Engaging with subcontractors for pricing and programme input
- Considering installation methodology, sequencing, and programme durations
- Supporting tender submissions through to final review
You will work closely with the Director and operational team, who will support on labour allowances, buildability, and delivery approach.
Requirements:- Proven experience pricing mechanical packages
- Strong ability to carry out detailed take-offs from drawings
- Confident interpreting specifications and technical documentation
- Understanding of installation methods and project delivery
- Experience working with subcontractors and supply chain
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience within rail or infrastructure environments
- Familiarity with Ensign estimating software
- Basic understanding of electrical interfaces (plant, power, controls)
- Full-time contract position
- Office-based in Essex (some flexibility may be considered)
- Expenses covered excluding standard commuting
