Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer Salary: Up to £85,000 + car allowance Location: Full time in the Office We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to take ownership of mechanical design delivery across a range of design & build projects. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility for technical output, coordination, and buildability. The role You will be responsible for producing and managing coordinated mechanical design packages that support accurate pricing, efficient installation, and reduced construction risk. Working closely with in-house architectural teams and external consultants, you will ensure mechanical designs are compliant, practical, and delivered in line with programme. Key responsibilities include: * Full responsibility for mechanical building services design on design & build contracts * Producing coordinated mechanical drawings and specifications aligned with Employer’s Requirements * Ensuring compliance with current British Standards, Building Regulations, and recognised design guides * Managing design deliverables and ensuring outputs meet agreed programmes and quality standards * Coordinating with architectural, structural, and external MEP design teams * Attending design team meetings and site visits where required to support delivery * Implementing compliant, industry-standard design solutions with particular focus on fire safety and fire-related regulations * Supporting the wider project team by reducing technical and construction risk through well-considered design Experience and requirements * Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline * Member of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional body (e.g. CIBSE, IET or similar) * Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical building services design * Strong working knowledge of design & build project delivery * Proficient in AutoCAD * Experience using Revit MEP for mechanical design and coordination * Familiar with MEPworx (or equivalent design software) * Experience producing specifications using NBS or similar systems * Confident communicating with internal teams, consultants, and site personnel This role would suit a senior-level mechanical engineer who enjoys owning the design process, understands construction realities, and can deliver robust, compliant designs that stand up on site
