We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our team for ongoing renovation and restoration projects in and around Plymouth. This role is ideal for an experienced tradesperson with strong knowledge of both first fix and second fix carpentry, who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and has previous experience working on listed buildings and heritage renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • First fix carpentry including stud walls, joists, roofing structures, floor systems, and timber framing
  • Second fix carpentry including doors, architraves, skirting boards, staircases, fitted furniture, kitchens, and finishing works
  • Restoration and repair of existing timber features in listed and period properties
  • Installation of bespoke joinery and traditional timber components
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and project plans
  • Working alongside site managers, surveyors, and other trades to deliver projects on schedule
  • Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard while maintaining the character and integrity of heritage buildings
  • Carrying out remedial works, snagging, and finishing tasks as needed
  • Maintaining a safe and organised work area and adhering to all health and safety requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience in both first and second fix carpentry
  • Previous experience working on listed buildings, heritage properties, or high-end renovation projects
  • Strong understanding of traditional building methods and materials
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Own tools and transport essential
  • Valid CSCS card required
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, site management, and other trades
