About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Fire Stopper to join our team based in Exeter on a temporary to permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled passive fire protection specialist to secure a long-term position with a growing company.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of passive fire protection systems across a range of commercial and residential projects in and around the Exeter area.
- Installation of fire stopping systems including intumescent products, fire collars, pipe seals, and cavity barriers
- Sealing of service penetrations through fire-rated walls, floors, and ceilings
- Compartmentation surveys and remediation works
- Ensuring all works are carried out in line with current fire safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and British Standards
- Completing accurate documentation, inspection records, and certificates upon completion of works
- Reporting deficiencies and non-compliant installations to the relevant supervisor
Qualifications:
- ASFP (Association for Specialist Fire Protection) training or equivalent passive fire protection qualification
- NVQ Level 2 or above in Passive Fire Protection or a relevant construction discipline
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Blue Skilled Worker card as a minimum
- Fire Stopping Competency Card (Passive Fire Protection installer level)
- Asbestos Awareness Certificate (Category A) desirable
- Full UK driving licence (manual) essential
- Must be aged 25 or over (insurance requirement for company vehicle use)
- Ability to travel to our Exeter headquarters daily
- Proven, demonstrable experience in passive fire protection installation
- Strong understanding of Building Regulations Part B, BS 9999, and relevant fire safety legislation
- Ability to work at height and in confined spaces as required
Pay Rates
- Standard Rate: £22.50 per hour - Applicable to all candidates who meet the essential requirements above. A works van will be made available for use during working hours, with daily travel to our Exeter headquarters required.
- Enhanced Rate: £26.00 per hour - Available to candidates who can demonstrate ALL of the following:
- Ownership of their own van, currently used for private fire stopping work
- Evidence of active, ongoing experience in this line of work on a self-employed or private basis
Temporary to Permanent Pathway
This role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with a view to a permanent position for the right candidate. Upon transition to a permanent contract, the following additional benefits will apply:
