My client is a leading building materials manufacturer, and we are seeking a Technical Specification Manager to join their growing dynamic team. This is a strategically important role with a focus to build on strong existing architects/surveyors relationships, supporting the development of their routes to market, and generating full system sale opportunities for my client's solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as an expert consultant and trusted advisor to architects, surveyors, Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), contractors, and resellers, fostering mutually beneficial relationships to influence roofing and building material specifications.
- Promote a portfolio of solutions, generating complete system sales opportunities.
- Conduct site inspections and Specmaster guarantee verifications to ensure product alignment and compliance.
- Manage opportunities by passing all opportunities following specification to the Area Sales Manager (ASM) for ownership and further action with SC/Resellers.
- Support ASMs by identifying bidding Main Contractors and Sub-Contractors for specified opportunities, and retain specification involvement where required at the ASM’s request.
- Coordinate all commercial pricing, quotations, and supply arrangement requests, passing them to the ASM for management.
- Take ownership of decision-makers in both new and renovation markets for Residential and Non-Residential sales.
- Develop business plans for Key Local Authorities and other RSL clients.
- Provide technical support to the transactional team, assisting with contractor interactions and ad hoc Main Contractor agreements.
- Contribute to the area’s sales strategy, aligning activities with broader business goals.
- Deliver and present CPD (Continuing Professional Development) presentations to target customers and potential clients.
- Build strong working relationships with Area Sales Managers to ensure effective delivery of the project pipeline and that sales activities align with business objectives.
- Use platforms such as C4C and S4C to manage the Sales Pipeline, maintaining regular meetings for opportunity management, project tracking, and tender intelligence sharing.
Qualifications:
- Strong technical background and expertise in building materials.
- Proven experience in specification management, project tracking, and sales pipeline management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders such as architects, contractors, and resellers.
- A proactive and strategic mindset with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of residential and non-residential markets, particularly in the context of new builds and renovations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
