What does an Apprentice Teaching Assistant do? In a nutshell: This is a hugely varied role. You will be supporting a child with their learning by helping them understand lessons, assisting with classroom transitions, spending the day with your appointed child, watching them grow and develop, and providing feedback on their progress to class teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the child to understand lessons and concepts.
  • Assist the child with moving between classrooms and completing tasks.
  • Spend the day with the child, building a supportive relationship.
  • Observe and report on the child's development and progress.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to identify and address individual needs.
