Activities Assistant (Whitehaven)

Base Pay Range
Activities Assistant – 20 hours per week, Whitehaven, CA28 6HA, Harbour View Lodge Care Home.

The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with residents living with dementia.
- Show genuine interest in our residents.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work effectively as part of the Activities Team.
- Be able to motivate people to participate.
- Have good organisational skills.
- Have good time‑management and the ability to schedule and plan ahead.
- Build self‑esteem.
- Keep up to date and informed about new activities.
Role and responsibilities (not exhaustive)
- Assist in organising and coordinating activities tailored to individual needs, including themed events.
- Book external suppliers for entertainment.
- Organise community trips, considering transport arrangements and accessibility.
- Contribute to planning a varied, stimulating activity programme to enhance residents’ quality of life.
- Maintain written records of resident participation and regularly review resident needs.
- Maintain a portfolio of information on available activities within the Home and local community.
- Participate in fundraising events, as required.
General duties
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Complete all mandatory training and other identified training.
- Communicate effectively with staff, relatives, visitors, and professional agencies.
- Practice and promote safe working practices within the Home.
The position is subject to two acceptable references and an enhanced DBS Disclosure, the cost of which will be met by the successful applicant.
