Job Purpose:

Delivery of business and quality performance targets for a portfolio of care homes. Provide direct line management to the Care Home managers and create a culture of customer focus, quality of service and continuous improvement. Establish and maintain relationship management with key external stakeholders. Support Company Directors in the delivery of strategic objectives.

Principal Role & Accountabilities:

  • Conduct detailed monthly provider/compliance visits of each care home, including investigation into KPIs, review and sign‑off of Service Improvement Plans, review of maintenance documentation, and review of the environment.
  • Be present in the care homes: visit regularly, interact with staff, monitor customer experience, and support under‑performing homes.
  • Agree action plans with Home Managers arising from audits, complaint investigations, etc.; assist in completing elements of these plans.
  • Monitor progress of action plans and report any non‑compliance to the Senior Regional Manager.
  • Accountable for the care home’s quality outcomes/performance within the group.
  • Lead standardisation of documentation and best practice.
  • Participate in governance meetings.
  • Attend monthly central team meetings to present audit results and discuss actions for under‑performing homes.
  • Lead training evaluation and organise/deliver training as required.
  • Support/manage Home Managers through coaching, mentorship and development.
  • Manage relationships with CQC Inspectors, local authorities and external professionals.
  • Provide management cover during Home Manager absences.
  • Assist in developing care‑related policies and procedures.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings/appeals/grievances as directed.
  • Support Home Managers to deliver business outcomes including sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure homes meet Harbour expectations and deliver all Harbour initiatives.

Communications and Working Relationships:

Work closely with Home Managers, Directors and professional colleagues to ensure high‑quality standards and maximum efficiency within the care homes. Develop and maintain an external network of relevant contacts, key customers and stakeholders to promote the care homes and company.

Qualifications:

Ideally RGN/RMN/RNLD or NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.

Knowledge & Experience:

Broad experience of operating at a management level, preferably multi‑site. Must demonstrate a caring ethos, being concerned for both residents and staff members. Specialist experience and comprehensive legislative knowledge of the framework and good practice guidance relating to CQC and other relevant bodies (Independent Safeguarding Authority, Disclosure and Barring Service, Nursing and Midwifery Council). All positions require an Enhanced DBS check in relation to children and adults.
