Bank Children’s Residential Support Worker at Ty Mesen - 2 Broughton Avenue, Rhyl, Denbighshire, LL18 3EW. Ā£13.00 per hour. Bank Shifts.

Job Purpose

To ensure that looked after Children & Young People receiving short breaks/looked after full time at Ty Mesen receive the appropriate levels and standards of care and support and to create a happy and supportive environment for those individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To undertake sleep-in duties, work unsociable hours and complete live/waking night duties at various locations as required to meet the individual or group needs of children and young people.
  • To contribute to the implementation of individual casework and group work with children and young people and their families as outlined in the individual care plan and placement plan.
  • To observe, recognise, record and interpret boundaries and set limits in relation to those children and young people being accommodated and respond to challenging behaviour in accordance with the unit’s care and control policies/procedures.
  • To participate in the development and implementation of programmes for young people that assist them to address presenting problems and behavioural issues.
  • To develop close professional links with other staff of the department and the staff of other agencies and organisations.
  • To undertake the role of key worker to individual children/young people, as appropriate.
  • To participate in staff supervision, performance review, training and development programmes arranged by the department.
  • To participate in staff and other professional meetings and provide verbal and written reports when required.
  • To maintain records and work at all times in accordance with the unit’s statement of purpose and function.
  • To share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the unit and to set high standards in ā€œhome-makingā€.

The duties are varied, and no two days will be the same. Our Children and Young People are individuals, and they all deserve to be treated as such. However, as a general guide, duties may include some support with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing such as arts and crafts, watching the footie, drama, musical evenings, gardening, shopping trips and social occasions.
