Purpose of Role
Lead the UK tax function and manage a team of tax professionals responsible for tax advisory, compliance, tax reporting, group and corporate reporting, and VAT.
Ensure effective management of UK tax risk and accurate, timely delivery of the tax obligations of the UK Business Unit and UK Corporate legal entities.
Provide commercially focused advice, including on M&A activity, and represent the Company proactively with government, industry and other external stakeholders.

- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilits
- Ensure that all activities and behaviors are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy's Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsary compliance training where required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility, and Competence
- Lead, develop and manage a high-performing team of tax professionals, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective delivery of UK tax advisory, tax compliance, tax reporting, group and corporate reporting, and VAT activities, supported by robust governance, controls and tax risk management processes.
- Oversee corporation tax returns, tax provisions, group and statutory reporting, VAT returns and associated filings, ensuring obligations are delivered accurately and on time.
- Lead and provide commercially focused tax advice on M&A activities, including acquisitions, disposals, due diligence, transaction structuring, financing, integration and post-completion restructuring, as well as wider strategic, operational and joint venture matters.
- Work closely with the UK Corporate team on all UK tax matters affecting the Group's UK companies, ensuring alignment of tax strategy, governance, risk management and reporting across the UK Corporate portfolio and the UK Business Unit.
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance for the UK Corporate legal entities and the UK Business Unit, ensuring consistent and timely compliance and reporting across the Group.
- Develop proactive relationships with HMRC, HM Treasury, industry trade bodies, other oil and gas companies, joint venture partners, external advisers and other third parties, representing the Company's interests on tax policy, legislative developments and industry matters.
- Monitor developments in UK oil and gas taxation and the wider fiscal landscape, advising senior management on emerging risks, opportunities and business impacts.
- Manage external advisers and specialist providers, ensuring high-quality support, effective cost management and access to appropriate expertise.
- Professional tax or accounting qualification, such as CTA, ACA, CA or ACCA, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax, Petroleum Revenue Tax, Energy Profits Levy, capital allowances, decommissioning taxation, tax accounting and VAT.
- Proven experience of leading, developing and managing tax professionals across multiple tax disciplines.
- Relevant experience of advising on M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring, integration and post-completion activity.
- Experience of managing relationships with HMRC and engaging effectively with government, industry bodies and other external stakeholders.
- Strong commercial judgement and analytical capability, with the ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to senior and non-tax stakeholders.
