Purpose of Role
Role holder plays a crucial role in driving strategic decision-making and ensuring the effective management and optimisation of natural gas assets and contracts. Accountable for developing gas portfolio optimisation trading strategies and extrinsic value capture.
Critical Responsibilities
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities
- Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence Advisory
- Strategic adviser to the VP – Trading and Marketing, in particular as it relates to the management and optimisation of portfolio natural gas assets and contracts.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, professional development, and high performance.
Gas Portfolio Optimisation
- Create and develop optimisation trading strategies for the global gas and pipeline NGL portfolio and use market knowledge to maximise opportunities and revenue within defined risk limits.
- Create and develop entry capacity purchasing strategies and track performance.
- Create, develop and maintain pricing methodologies and models to value complex non-standard products, working closely with the planning and market risk teams.
- Create, develop and maintain an overview of portfolio positions, capacities, volume and price risks and provide and maintain meaningful reports, as required.
Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.
- Relevant degree qualified professional.
- Strong experience working in gas optimisation with an in-depth understanding of commodity optimisation strategies and products.
- Strong track record of maximising revenue in a team environment utilising quantitative market and price volatility analysis.
- In-depth understanding of European gas markets and good understanding of related local and global commodity markets.
- Strong communication skills and experience in explaining optimisation activities at a senior level.
- Demonstrable significant internal stakeholder management skills, with the ability to learn from and influence others.
- Strategic thinking with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Performance focused with commercial mind-set, agility and a focus on delivery and performance.
- Resilient under pressure and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of logistical constraints and the regulatory setup of applicable gas markets.
