Senior Environmental Officer Grounds and Maintanence

The Environmental Services team are seeking a committed, enthusiastic individual with excellent administrative skills and an eagerness to learn. The post is a senior role which reports directly to the Environmental Services Operations Manager. You will primarily work in the Environmental Services functions including grounds maintenance, street cleansing and environmental crime. At times their may be a cross over with the waste and recycling team. You will play an integral in delivering several exciting projects within the Environmental Services department including play area refurbishment, tree works and open space management. You will be required to undertake various site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with service level agreements, terms & conditions and monitor contractor performance. An essential part of your job will be to build strong relationships with our contractor, other external partners and internal colleagues, so you must be an excellent and confident communicator, ensuring others trust your professional judgement and advice. The role will involve a lot of customer interaction, acting as the first point of contact for the Environmental Services team. A commitment to a high level of customer care is essential, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You will play an active role in a multi-skilled and motivated team, and there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills, progress your career and contribute to the direction of the service. You will also be able to demonstrate negotiation skills; enthusiasm; self-motivation; sound judgement; a proactive approach to problem solving and tackling challenges; excellent organisational skills; and an ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve service delivery. At times, you may need to make difficult decisions when the Environmental Services Operations Manager is unavailable. A strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations is essential for success in this role. With guidance from the Environmental Services Operations Manager, you will oversee new apprentices in the Environmental Services team, ensuring their growth and success throughout their development and college journey.
