Harborough District Council's vision is to work with communities in a vibrant, safe and prosperous district and to bring the best opportunities to all. The Councils Communities Team is looking for a highly motivated administrative assistant with skills and experience working with Section 106 (S106). You will oversee the general administration duties for the Section 106 Team. We are looking for an organised and proactive S106 Admin Assistant to support the Section 106 Team within Community Partnerships. This role will provide essential administrative support to help ensure Section 106 funding, applications, allocations and related processes are managed efficiently, accurately and in line with Council procedures. The postholder will act as a first point of contact for the team, responding to enquiries by phone and email, signposting applicants, escalating queries where needed and supporting the smooth day to day running of the service. The role will also involve maintaining accurate records, processing invoices and payments, supporting finance tracking, preparing information for reports, and helping the team make best use of digital systems including the Council website and Exacom. A key aim of the role is to help improve the visibility and accessibility of Section 106 opportunities across the district. This will include supporting community engagement, assisting with events and meetings, working with colleagues to promote successful projects, and helping develop case studies and communications for residents, parish councils, councillors and partner organisations.
We are looking for someone with strong administrative experience, attention to detail and the ability to work confidently in a busy team environment. You will be well organised, able to manage your own workload, prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accurate records and information. You will need good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable acting as a first point of contact for enquiries from applicants, colleagues, councillors, parish councils and partner organisations. Candidates should have experience of general office administration, using electronic systems to store and retrieve information, supporting finance processes such as raising or processing invoices, and preparing information and data for reports. Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams, is important, along with an understanding of GDPR and handling confidential information appropriately. Applicants should have:

  • GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • A formal administration qualification, such as BTEC or NVQ Level 2 or above, would be desirable but is not essential.
  • Experience of working in local government and/or Section 106, would be an advantage.
  • A driving licence and access to a car will be required to travel as needed, although reasonable adjustments will be considered.
All applicants should be aware that any employee, who is at threat of redundancy at the time of a position being advertised, will have priority status.
