Harborough District Council is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the Harborough Markets and Events Team as a part-time Market Officer, acting as the first point of contact for Market traders and overseeing all activities related to running the indoor market.

Reporting to the Market and Events Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Harborough Indoor and Farmers Market with duties including stall bookings, allocations and layouts, rent collections and reconciliation, and updating the market social media channels.

The successful candidate will also support the delivery of a calendar of events held at the Indoor Market or on The Square. We deliver numerous events including the BIG Weekend as part of the Leicester Comedy Festival, 1940’s and Young Traders Markets, so the post holder has the opportunity to take part in some fantastic projects.

You will be enthusiastic and customer-focused and confident with the MS Office Suite. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and ideally have a markets or facilities background.

The job is part-time over two days, but you will need to be willing to work flexible hours to cover service needs including unsocial hours, weekends, and bank holidays. The role requires some outside working, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.

A basic level Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement of this post.

This post will be primarily based at Harborough Indoor Market, Market Harborough.
