The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 € per year.

As Health and Safety Officer you will be responsible for ensuring the Council remains compliant with current and proposed legislation relating to H&S as well as maintaining accurate H&S records for audit and RIDDOR reporting purposes which may include carrying out investigations as and when required.

Undertaking regular site inspections of any Council workplace will also form part of the role along with maintaining and writing H&S policies and procedures and being responsible for arrangements of first aiders and first aider training.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to ensure a professional, practical and comprehensive Health and Safety advisory and support service is provided. The role will involve taking ownership for the maintenance and improvement of health and safety within the council, providing advice and delivering training to managers and collating and analysing data in order to produce reports and recommendations to the Corporate and Senior Management Team.

The successful candidate will have a NEBOSH Diploma or a degree in a relevant subject coupled with a post graduate diploma in Occupational Safety and be a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or be eligible for membership. You will have previous experience in a similar role and of delivering training.

You will also have excellent communication skills to ensure good working relationships are formed and be a competent user in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be a highly motivated individual who is able to use your initiative to work independently in order to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. You must be able to adopt a flexible approach to your work, and occasional work outside normal office hours may be required.
