The Environmental Services team are seeking a committed, enthusiastic individual with excellent administrative skills and an eagerness to learn.
The post reports directly to the Waste Operations Manager and will work across the environmental services function which covers domestic waste, trade waste, grounds maintenance, street cleansing and environmental crime.
You will be an integral part in supporting to deliver several exciting projects within the Environmental Services department including the implementation of a new waste strategy.
You will be required to undertake various site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with service level agreements, terms & conditions and monitor contractor performance.
An essential part of your job will be to build strong relationships with our contractor, other external partners and internal colleagues, so you must be an excellent and confident communicator, ensuring others trust your professional judgement and advice.
The role will involve a lot of customer interaction, acting as the first point of contact for the Environmental Services team. A commitment to a high level of customer care is essential, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
You will play an active role in a multi-skilled and motivated team, and there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills, progress your career and contribute to the direction of the service.
You will also be able to demonstrate negotiation skills; enthusiasm; self-motivation; sound judgement; a proactive approach to problem solving and tackling challenges; excellent organisational skills; and an ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve service delivery.
You must have a full valid UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes (reasonable adjustments will be considered).
The Council operates an agile working practice between home working and office working at The Symington Building.
