The Council is looking for a highly motivated Debt Recovery Officer to improve and maintain our Accounts Receivable system and perform an effective credit control function, including the identification and collection of debts, setting up payment plans and the management of credit limits with individual debtors.
Responsibilities
- Improve and maintain the Accounts Receivable system.
- Perform an effective credit control function.
- Identify and collect debts.
- Set up payment plans.
- Manage credit limits with individual debtors.
- Ensure financial controls are working correctly.
- Complete reconciliations, journals and tasks in a timely manner to support accurate budget monitoring reports and statements of accounts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable or collections in a local authority or public sector environment.
- Working knowledge of debt and debt recovery legislation.
- Strong customer communication skills in writing and over the phone.
- Desirable criteria from the person specification may be used for sifting purposes.
