Registered Nurse Contractor (no benefits) 11am-11pm 36/48 week rotation (rotating weekends). Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7-17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Monitors, reports, and documents the residents’ behaviour and physiological status.
- Administers medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures.
- Assists residents to regain health and reduce episodes of illness through resident and family education.
- Responsible for demonstrating clinical competence in the delivery of direct patient care and the implementation of the milieu management program.
- Demonstrate Service Excellence behaviours at all times.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
- Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or have a multi-state license.
- Prefer experience with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. New Nurses will be considered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations.
- Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
