Labcorp is a global leader in diagnostic testing and drug development solutions, helping healthcare providers, researchers, and patients make informed decisions that advance care. Labcorp is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Electrophysiology team at our site in Alconbury, Cambridgeshire.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00.

Responsibilities:

  • Learning to perform cellular electrophysiology recordings using the patch-clamp technique and provide technical assistance in the performance of ion channel studies (hERG, NaV, CaV) according to the protocol, Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOP) and the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Assisting with maintenance of cell lines used on patch-clamp studies.
  • Performing data analysis and QC checking of patch-clamp ion channel data.
  • Helping ensure the daily maintenance of the cell culture/electrophysiology laboratories and maintain, at all times, appropriate levels of materials and consumables to allow studies to be performed as planned.
  • Learning to prepare and QC check protocols and reports for patch-clamp electrophysiology studies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Practical lab experience with cell culture (HEK cells) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GLP preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
