Laboratory Assistant – Bioanalysis

Our largest UK site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join the Bio Analysis team.

• Job Responsibilities
• The primary function of the role is to perform test article / reference material weighings for the department.

These preparations are critical for the work that the department does.

• Perform equipment verifications and calibrations (pipettes, balances, p H meters etc).
• Prepare reagents, buffers, and other study related solutions as needed.
• Provide general lab cleaning, expired reagent monitoring, and glassware washing.
• Manage the inventory, ordering, E-Workbook registration, storage, organization, and disposal of laboratory supplies.

These may include critical reagents, chemicals, consumables, and matrix.

• Perform freezer and refrigerator maintenance.
• Provide ideas, support, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
• Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety compliance by ensuring that policies/SOPs and training are up to date.
• May train or assist less experienced staff.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Minimum Qualifications
• High School diploma / educated to A-level or equivalent Computing skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets (e. g. Microsoft Office packages).
• Additional Job Standards
• Excellent verbal and communication skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Willingness to learn Good attention to detail Follow guidelines and SOPs to the letter.

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Bioanalytical Laboratory team, providing critical support to the successful delivery of scientific studies.

In this role, you will play an essential part in the laboratory's daily operations, with a primary focus on the accurate weighing and preparation of test articles and reference materials.

Working with valuable client-owned materials, you will perform precise weighings, sometimes as low as 1.2 mg, where accuracy, care, and material conservation are critical.

Alongside this key responsibility, you will support a wide range of laboratory activities, helping to ensure equipment, materials, and workspaces are maintained to the highest standards.
