Our client, a well-established local engineering firm based in Lisburn, is seeking a Senior Stainless Steel & Mild Steel Fabricator to join their skilled and dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a tradesperson who takes pride in high-quality craftsmanship, precision fabrication, and delivering bespoke engineering solutions across a wide range of industries. This role is ideal for someone with strong, balanced experience across both stainless steel and mild steel, comfortable switching between materials day-to-day depending on project requirements. You will work on both one-off and small-batch production, producing high-quality stainless steel and mild steel fabrications in a clean, well-equipped workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, weld, and assemble stainless steel and mild steel components to precise specifications using MIG/TIG techniques.
- Carry out high-quality stainless steel TIG welding where required, ensuring excellent finish and presentation.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication schematics accurately.
- Work with a range of stainless steel and mild steel sections, plate, and fabricated assemblies.
- Operate workshop machinery and tools, including saws, grinders, and presses.
- Ensure all work meets required tolerances and quality standards, particularly on stainless steel where finish is critical.
- Work independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality projects on time.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant working environment.
- Support and mentor junior team members when required.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar fabrication role.
- Demonstrable experience working with stainless steel and mild steel in equal measure, including fabrication and welding.
- Strong ability to MIG and TIG weld across both materials (with a particular focus on stainless steel TIG where needed).
- Proven ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work and finish, especially on stainless steel fabrications.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience producing high-end stainless steel work requiring a strong visual finish (e.g., polished/clean presentation).
- Background in manufacturing, structural, or custom-built metalwork.
- Relevant welding qualifications or trade certifications.
