Happy Tails Pet Services is a trusted and reputable pet care service provider. Due to customer demands, we are looking to expand our team. We are dedicated to delivering the absolute best service for our clients (and their owners). We provide a range of services and aim to be as flexible as possible for our customers. We have a passion for delivering fun-filled days for our furry friends, and our large off-lead field provides endless excitement at our unique "paddock and play" sessions.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join the Happy Tails team. The ideal candidate will have a huge passion for animals, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to handle dogs of various breeds and sizes. As a Pet Care Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Walking multiple dogs safely and responsibly, following all client instructions and adhering to our company’s policies.
  • Providing exercise, playtime, and socialisation for dogs according to their individual needs.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of the dogs at all times, including monitoring for signs of health issues.
  • Transporting dogs to and from the session location safely.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised environment, including proper disposal of waste during walks.
  • Communicating effectively with pet owners, providing updates on their pets’ activities and feedback from sessions.
  • Taking pictures and short clips to provide an update for customers and our social media.
  • Handling any emergencies or unexpected situations calmly and professionally.
  • Maintaining accurate records of services provided and any observations about the dogs’ behaviour, health, and wellbeing.
  • Adhering to scheduled session times and routes, ensuring punctuality and reliability.

Requirements:

  • Confidence working with animals, especially dogs; previous experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dog behaviour and body language.
  • Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and breeds confidently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with a strong work ethic.
  • Full UK licence with a clean driving record (minimum 12 months on the licence).
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical ability to walk for extended periods and handle dogs that may pull or be energetic.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

What does an average day with Happy Tails look like? Bookings are planned in advance with busier days including multiple sessions. Clients are collected and then transported to the session's location. This can be Happy Tails' own secure paddock or one of multiple woodland and river locations handpicked by us. Session time is usually 1 hour from arrival to ensure maximum exercise time before returning each client to their home. You will be asked to work an AM shift and/or a PM shift depending on work levels. We sometimes operate a swapover system during busier days where one assistant will supervise a session whilst another session is being collected/dropped off.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £300.00-£350.00 per week
