We are actively looking to recruit a Design Manager to join a thriving Main Contractor based in Hertfordshire. As Design Manager you will co-ordinate and assist on pre-construction activities and tender opportunities, across Residential and Commercial projects up to £10m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design process to produce accurate information in line with the agreed specification and cost plan/estimate.
  • Proactively manage the appointment of consultants and ensure that they perform in line with their deed and agreed scope of services.
  • Produce a design programme with the consultants to meet the agreed whole life programme dates.
  • Provide cost effective technical solutions.
  • Chair design team meetings and issue actions to all involved.
  • Produce designs that meet all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals and record on appropriate tracking logs.
  • Provide technical support to the bid process.
  • Manage multiple projects or projects of a complex nature or high value.
  • Engage with the project team and CDM Coordinator to mitigate all health and safety risks.
  • Close out identified project risks.

Personal Profile

  • UK Construction knowledge.
  • Self-starter able to work independently but also as part of a bigger construction team.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in high pressure situations.
  • IT competence in packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ideal but not necessary is a professional qualification such as CIOB, RICS, APM or RIBA.
