About the Role: Country Manager, Germany
We are partnering with a globally recognised data and marketing technology business, part of one of the world’s largest marketing and communications groups, to appoint a Country Manager for Germany.
This is a senior commercial and leadership role responsible for driving the business’s growth, client relationships, and market positioning across Germany, with a focus on the Munich and Düsseldorf markets.
The business sits at the centre of the data and marketing technology landscape, advising major corporates on data management, identity resolution, audience targeting and privacy‑first marketing. The role offers the opportunity to lead a well‑established, high‑calibre team while shaping the business’s next phase of growth, at a moment when the business is moving to centre stage within its parent group following a significant recent merger.
Reporting Line and Strategic Context for this Data and Marketing Technology Business
Reporting into international leadership, the successful candidate will hold full P&L ownership for the German business, with accountability for commercial performance, new business generation, senior client relationships and team leadership.
The role sits at the intersection of data and marketing technology, enterprise client management, regulatory and privacy strategy, and organisational change leadership.
This is not simply an operational leadership role. It requires a highly commercial country leader with strong business acumen and the ability to identify, convert and grow strategic opportunities across the German data and technology ecosystem, while leading a large team through a significant period of change.
Key Responsibilities of the Country Manager
Commercial Leadership and Business Growth
- Own the full P&L for the German business, setting ambitious revenue targets and driving accountability across the business.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, opening doors with new logos as well as growing existing accounts.
- Read the German market landscape, competitive, regulatory and client‑side, and translate it into a clear, prioritised country strategy.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability and overall business performance.
Client Leadership and Data and Marketing Technical Credibility
- Build and sustain senior client relationships at C‑suite level (CMO, CDO, CTO and equivalent) across major German corporates.
- Manage complex, multi‑stakeholder client relationships over long sales cycles, translating client needs into commercially viable solutions.
- Engage credibly with clients on data management, identity resolution, audience targeting and marketing cloud platforms.
- Champion the business’s privacy‑first proposition, positioning GDPR and data governance as a genuine commercial differentiator rather than a cost of doing business.
Leadership, Culture and Change
- Lead, develop and motivate a cross‑functional team, building a high‑performance culture and retaining top talent under shifting priorities and compressed timelines.
- Operate confidently within the parent group’s matrix structure, managing upward to international leadership, laterally across group entities, and downward to the German team.
- Lead the German team through significant, fast‑moving change with resilience and clarity, making decisions with incomplete information while maintaining momentum and morale.
Market Positioning and Industry Leadership
- Represent the business with gravitas at the most senior levels, in German and English, within the wider group and in the market.
- Build and maintain senior relationships across clients, partners and the German data and technology ecosystem.
- Simplify complex data and technology concepts for non‑specialist audiences, both internally and externally.
Skills and Experience Required for This Country Manager Role in Germany
- Demonstrated ability to own and deliver a full P&L in a complex, services‑led business.
- Proven track record of building and sustaining senior relationships with large corporate clients at C‑suite level.
- Sufficient fluency in the data, identity resolution and martech landscape to engage credibly with technically sophisticated buyers.
- A natural hunter as well as a farmer, with experience building a pipeline in a consultative, long‑cycle enterprise sales environment.
- Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to prioritise where a business can win as its role within a larger group grows in ambition and scope.
- Experience leading and developing a cross‑functional team at fast pace, within a large, complex holding group structure.
- A working understanding of GDPR and the German data protection environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English, with the gravitas to represent the business at the most senior levels.
- Resilience and adaptability, with a track record of leading teams through significant, fast‑moving organisational change.
Cultural Fit and Values
The business values commercial rigour, collaboration, and a privacy‑first approach to data and marketing technology. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced, internationally connected environment and demonstrate strong leadership, strategic judgement, and a genuine passion for growing both people and business, at a moment of real momentum within the wider group.
