We are currently recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with strong experience supporting students with autism to work in a mainstream secondary school in central Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant who has worked extensively with secondary-aged students with autism, particularly within structured classroom or subject-based settings such as science.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for secondary students with autism
- Supporting learning, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team
- Helping adapt classroom activities to meet individual needs
This role would suit a confident, proactive HLTA who is experienced in secondary environments and understands how to support students with additional needs in a mainstream setting.
Requirements
- Experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or experienced TA in a secondary school
- Significant experience supporting students with autism (ASC/ASD)
- Strong behaviour support and communication skills
- Confidence working independently and as part of a wider school team
Job Details

- Hours: Monday to Friday, standard school hours
- Location: Central Bristol easily accessible by bus from BS6, BS7 and BS5
