Role Purpose
As Asphalt Production Supervisor Lead, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day operation of a busy urban asphalt production facility. You will lead a skilled team, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency are maintained while maximizing plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise daily asphalt production activities.
- Plan production schedules based on customer demand and plant capability.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and regulations.
- Monitor output, quality, and plant performance to optimise throughput.
- Lead, motivate and supervise site personnel.
- Manage plant start‑up and shut‑down procedures.
- Carry out routine inspections and monitoring in line with site procedures.
- Undertake basic maintenance and repairs within scope and competence.
- Maintain accurate records and complete inspection and near‑miss reports.
- Operate static and mobile plant safely and efficiently, including FELs and dumpers.
- Ensure refuelling, greasing and cleaning of equipment is completed correctly.
- Liaise with colleagues, suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Support continuous improvement through CPD, training and best practice.
Key Accountabilities
- Full compliance with Company Health & Safety Policy, Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Efficient and cost‑effective use of labour, plant and materials.
- Energy‑efficient operation of plant and machinery.
- High standards of housekeeping, timekeeping and reporting.
Qualifications
- Reasonable general level of education; NVQ Level 2 in Process Operations (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in asphalt or construction materials production.
- Strong working knowledge of SHE, QA and process control.
- Understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 and site‑specific SHE procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify potential plant issues.
- Experience with plant maintenance, repairs and asphalt materials.
- Confident leader with strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
