Purpose of the role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Plant Supervisor to take full operational responsibility for our site. This is a hands‑on role where you will oversee production, lead on health and safety, ensure quality standards are met, and provide a first‑class service to customers. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient, safe and compliant operation of the plant, while maintaining excellent site standards and delivering against production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management – Take full control of day‑to‑day plant operations, ensuring safe and efficient running of the site; operate computer‑based batching and dispatch systems accurately; schedule and manage customer orders to meet demand and optimise output; ensure continuous availability of materials, additives and fuel; monitor plant utilisation to maximise efficiency and performance.
  • Customer Service – Act as the primary point of contact for customers, both face‑to‑face and over the phone; handle enquiries and process orders professionally, maintaining a high standard of company representation.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance – Ensure full compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and company safety policies; enforce safe working practices across employees, contractors and visitors; report and act on any risks, defects or incidents that could impact safety, environment or operations; maintain compliance with environmental legislation, including waste, water discharge and dust control; adhere to quality control procedures, fraud prevention and Competition Act requirements.
  • Quality & Production – Accurately batch concrete and mortar in line with technical procedures and specifications; ensure all products meet company quality standards; manage and resolve delivery or ticket discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintenance & Site Standards – Carry out routine inspections, maintenance and defect reporting; ensure plant, equipment, buildings and surrounding areas are clean, safe and well maintained; maintain stock control, including weekly visual checks and monthly verification; oversee incoming materials inspection and documentation; manage plant operations during winter conditions.
  • Leadership & Coordination – Supervise contractors and hauliers on‑site to ensure safe and efficient operations; review working practices regularly to improve performance and efficiency; seek guidance from the District Operations Manager when required.

About You

  • Previous experience in plant operations, production or a similar industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfortable using computerised systems and production controls.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proactive, organised and able to work independently.
  • Willingness to carry out hands‑on tasks, including maintenance and working at height.
