A growing London Market client of mine are looking to grow their team. This role sits within the client's US Application Delivery team and the individual is responsible for leading a geographically diverse technical team to design and build an Underwriting Workbench Application on top of commercially off the shelf software. This individual’s primary responsibility would be to ensure that the technical teams understand the proposed solution architecture and be able to drive the build of the artifacts such that the system meets the business vision and requirements.
This role also needs to work closely with other Architects within the team, as well as IT Delivery, Change Management, third party suppliers and business stakeholders to ensure that the quality of delivery meets the expectations.
Essential Functions:- As a technical lead, you have a good understanding of the work product and be able to break it down into work items and assign them to the development staff.
- You will work closely with the Product Owner to manage the evolving requirements into tasks for the developers.
- You will be responsible for reviewing the code/artifacts produced, foreseeing risks during development and testing phases and making recommendations based on the team’s feedback to the overall project plan.
- If necessary, you should be comfortable to roll up your sleeves as well to help contribute towards development and technical troubleshooting.
- Work closely with business and operations teams to build close relationships, provide transparency, influence decisions and manage expectations while delivering this platform.
- Participate in technology strategy and planning initiatives.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Technical Lead in the insurance industry having implemented scalable, resilient, and secure solutions within the Underwriting and Rating domain.
- Any experience of building Underwriting Workbench applications on a Low Code/COTS product is strongly preferred.
- Experience in implementing and overall knowledge of insurance/reinsurance specific business applications such as Policy Administration System suites, Quote & Bind Portals, Claims Management systems.
- Knowledge of common enterprise application and integration design patterns is a must.
- Experience/exposure to enterprise application integration strategies and related technologies (e.g. Azure Integration Services, Mulesoft or Boomi).
- Good knowledge of and evidence of exploiting at least one major Cloud platform for the delivery of cloud-native solutions (e.g. Azure, AWS or GCP).
- Experience working across the software development lifecycle using both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of development best practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment processes.
- Ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to apply knowledge of best practices and a structured approach to analysis to solve challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Overall 10+ years of experience in the Information Technology industry.
- Any experience with Appian and ServiceNow as an Underwriting Workbench is strongly preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of Microsoft enterprise technologies.
- Any exposure to AI related technologies within the enterprise context.
