Underwriting Operations & Transformation - London Insurance Market

Location: London

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: Hybrid

Salary: Up to £100k + Bonus

We are looking for an underwriting professional who wants to use their market knowledge to improve how an underwriting function operates within a reputable London Market Insurer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an underwriting background who is naturally interested in systems, processes and the wider operating model. You may currently be working as an underwriter but find yourself drawn to improving workflows, solving operational problems and helping colleagues work more effectively.

This role offers the opportunity to build on your underwriting experience while moving into a broader, change-focused position. You will remain close to the underwriting function, but will have the scope to influence its operating model, improve the tools and processes underwriters rely on, and help shape how the function works in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing the underwriting operating model and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Assessing existing underwriting processes, systems and workflows
  • Leading process-improvement initiatives across the underwriting lifecycle
  • Working closely with underwriters to understand pain points and business requirements
  • Acting as a bridge between underwriting, operations, technology and change teams
  • Supporting the design and implementation of new systems, tools and ways of working
  • Simplifying processes, reducing manual activity and improving the quality and consistency of data
  • Helping ensure that changes are practical, adopted by the business and deliver measurable benefits
  • Supporting broader transformation initiatives across the underwriting function
  • Developing process documentation, operating procedures and performance measures

Key Requirements:

  • A strong underwriting background within the London insurance market
  • A good understanding of the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle
  • A genuine interest in systems, operational improvement and transformation
  • Experience of improving processes, workflows or ways of working within an underwriting environment
  • The ability to communicate credibly with underwriters and understand their priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to translate underwriting requirements into clear operational or system solutions
  • Confidence working across business, operations and technology teams
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels

If you understand underwriting, enjoy solving operational problems and want to make a wider impact across the business, we would be keen to hear from you.
