This role is central to transforming the underwriting experience—driving speed, consistency, and insight through integrated tools, data, and workflow orchestration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Ownership
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the Underwriting Workstation across lines such as E&S, Marine, Cyber, and Professional Liability.
- Define and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and success metrics aligned to underwriting strategy and business outcomes.
- Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, underwriting needs, and feedback from users.
- User-Centric Design & Innovation
- Partner with underwriting teams to deeply understand user pain points, needs, and decision-making processes.
- Translate those insights into modern user experiences that streamline submission intake, triage, appetite assessment, and risk evaluation.
- Embed automation, rules engines, and AI models to enhance underwriting productivity and decision support.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with design, engineering, data science, and platform teams to build, launch, and scale capabilities across the underwriting journey.
- Serve as the key liaison between business and technology—owning backlog grooming, release planning, and sprint reviews.
- Work closely with compliance, legal, and security teams to ensure all features meet regulatory and risk standards.
- Value Delivery & Performance Monitoring
- Establish product KPIs such as underwriting cycle time reduction, user adoption, straight-through processing rates, and quote-to-bind conversion.
- Use data to drive product decisions, identify areas of underperformance, and continuously iterate the workstation’s capabilities.
- Maintain a strong feedback loop with underwriting users to refine and enhance the product post-launch.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU) a plus.
- 5+ years of product management experience, preferably within P&C insurance or insurtech.
- Deep understanding of underwriting processes and specialty lines dynamics.
- Strong experience delivering digital tools, workflow platforms, or data-enabled underwriting solutions.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and product development lifecycle management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha!).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Appian, ServiceNow), or integration with PAS (e.g., Guidewire, OneShield).
- Familiarity with decision engines, rules management, and third-party data integration.
- Demonstrated success in driving adoption of digital tools within underwriting or specialty insurance contexts.
