Job Description
As Senior Employment Counsel you’ll play a pivotal role within our global legal team, acting as the “glue” for all employment‑related matters across the business worldwide. You’ll work closely with HR and senior leadership to ensure compliance, manage risk and support strategic initiatives. Your expertise will shape our approach to global employment law, dispute management, GDPR/privacy compliance and organisational change.
What You’ll Do
- Provide practical, commercially focused advice on employment law matters across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating with local external counsel where necessary.
- Oversee and manage employment disputes and litigation globally, ensuring effective resolution strategies.
- Draft, review and update employment contracts, policies and handbooks to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Advise on data protection and privacy issues related to employee data, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations.
- Support HR and leadership on organisational changes, including redundancies, transfers and integration projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external law firms, ensuring cost‑effective and high‑quality legal support.
- Partner with HR and business leaders to deliver proactive solutions that align with company culture and strategic objectives.
What You Bring
- Qualified lawyer in a UK (preferred) or European jurisdiction.
- 8+ years of post‑qualified employment law experience gained in private practice and in‑house, with at least 2 years in an in‑house role.
- Experience advising on employment matters across UK/EMEA, including managing disputes and complex workforce issues.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and communicate legal issues to non‑lawyers.
- Highly organised, pragmatic and solutions‑oriented approach.
- Demonstrable experience collaborating with diverse audiences internally and externally.
- The ability to speak a foreign language (German and/or French are particularly valuable).
