We are looking for an experienced leader who will significantly influence the legal stability, commercial clarity, and business future security of Hansen Technologies Germany as Vice President Legal & Commercial.

In this role, you will have overall responsibility for all legal matters in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You will be a sparring partner in the Senior Leadership Teams, manage complex contract negotiations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support strategic business initiatives with clear, robust recommendations.

At the same time, you will strengthen the commercial foundations of our deals, partnerships, and business models, ensuring that decisions are made transparently, economically sensibly, and sustainably. Through your expertise, you will influence strategic decisions at the leadership level and actively contribute to shaping and accelerating the future of our DACH organisation.

Your areas of responsibility

• Legal Ownership (DACH): You are the primary legal contact for all matters in the DACH region – from contract and employment law to software and IT-specific issues. You ensure compliance with local, regional, and EU-wide regulations and advise the leadership team with clear, strategic recommendations.
• Contract Negotiations: You draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts (SaaS, licenses, partnerships, resellers, projects) and balance legal risks with commercial goals. You develop standards that make our business scalable, secure, and efficient.
• Litigation & Dispute Resolution: You manage legal disputes, coordinate external law firms, and define strategies for effective dispute resolution – from negotiations to arbitration.
• Employment Law Advisory: You support HR and leaders across the DACH region on topics such as hiring, separation, employee relations, and employment law compliance, ensuring legally sound decisions in the people context.
• Regulatory, Data Protection & Compliance: You are responsible for GDPR compliance, competition law, and industry-specific regulatory requirements. You establish processes, policies, and training that ensure transparency, security, and sustainable compliance.
• Strategic Business Partnering: You advise the Senior Leadership Team on risks, growth opportunities, and new business models. You accompany international initiatives, cross-border issues, and the further development of our commercial frameworks.
• Risk Management & Governance: You identify risks, develop robust governance and decision-making structures, and ensure that the company is resilient, efficient, and legally sound.
• External Law Firm Management: You select external law firms, lead them purposefully, manage budgets, and ensure that external services are delivered with high quality, efficiency, and business orientation.
• Global Collaboration: You work closely with international legal, commercial, and compliance teams to ensure consistency, alignment, and smooth collaboration within the global organisation.

Your profile

• You are a fully qualified lawyer with a passed Second State Examination or equivalent international qualification.
• You have at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in an international company or a leading law firm.
• You are familiar with the specifics of German commercial, contract, and employment law and have experience advising global organisations.
• You negotiate complex contract structures confidently and find the balance between legal security and commercial pragmatism.
• You think entrepreneurially, strategically, and solution-oriented – and can provide clear recommendations even under pressure.
• You communicate precisely and convincingly, in German and English, to management, customers, and partners.
• You lead people and topics, manage external law firms, and act as a trusted partner at the senior level.
• You work structured, proactively, and resiliently, keeping an overview in complex situations.
• You act pragmatically, make decisions, and implement them – even when it gets challenging.
