As part of this journey, we are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function and help build the financial infrastructure to support our continued expansion across the UK, Europe and US. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role working closely with the founders to provide financial clarity, commercial insight and the infrastructure required to support the continued growth of both Hansen Filler and EquiTalent.

The Role: The Finance Manager will lead the day-to-day finance function while acting as a trusted commercial partner to the leadership team. You will be responsible for ensuring strong financial controls, clear reporting and effective cash management, while also helping to build the systems and processes needed to support the next stage of growth for Hansen Filler and EquiTalent. This role offers the opportunity to build and shape the finance function within a fast-growing search/interim management firm, with real visibility and influence across the business. We want this person to build a team and grow in the role as it moves from an outsourced to in-house Finance function. The role will offer a lot of scope for designing new processes and systems. There will be scope to move into a leadership role as the business grows. The role will work closely with the Operations Manager who oversees contractor administration, CRM systems and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finance Operations
    • Own and manage the day-to-day finance function and general ledger (Xero)
    • Ensure accurate financial records and strong financial discipline across the business.
    • Lead the month-end close process and maintain high-quality financial reporting.
    • Maintain robust financial controls and compliance processes.
  • Financial Planning and Business Performance
    • Manage the weekly cash and maintain a 13-week cash flow model.
    • Provide clear visibility on working capital, liquidity and financial performance on a timely basis.
    • Manage the forecast linking CRM data.
    • Support leadership with budgeting and annual financial planning.
  • Management Reporting & Commercial Insight
    • Prepare a monthly management pack for the Leadership Team.
    • Deliver reporting on key commercial drivers including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA and productivity levers.
    • Translate financial data into clear insights to support decision making.
    • Partner with the Founders on business performance and financial strategy.
  • Debtor & Working Capital Management
    • Oversee debtor management and work closely with recruitment consultants and leadership to manage receivables.
    • Ensure disciplined invoicing and collections processes.
    • Help to improve cash conversion and working capital efficiency.
  • Payroll & Contractor Payments
    • Oversee internal payroll processes.
    • Approve contractor payroll and ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Ensure payments are timely, accurate and well controlled.
    • Manage IR35 and PAYE related processes.
  • Systems & Process Development
    • Strengthen and streamline finance processes and controls.
    • Improve utilisation of finance systems and reporting tools.
    • Build a scalable financial infrastructure to support business growth.
    • Help implement dashboards and performance reporting for leadership.
    • Support the development and scaling of the finance function as the business continues to grow.
  • External Advisors & Governance
    • Act as the primary finance interface with external advisors including tax advisors, year-end accountants, auditors (when required), bankers and legal counsel.
    • Coordinate the annual accounts process and statutory filings.
    • Work with external advisors on tax and compliance matters as the business grows.
    • Ensure the business maintains strong governance and financial compliance standards.
    • Support the business with international employee matters, including coordination of relocation, visas and associated compliance where required.

Candidate Profile: We are looking for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environment. You will likely have experience in a recruitment or professional services business and understand the financial drivers of a people-led organisation. Most importantly, you will be comfortable working closely with founders and leadership, providing both financial discipline and commercial insight.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Cashflow management and forecasting
  • Preparing management accounts and performance reporting
  • Ability to build financial processes in a growing business.
  • High attention to detail and strong process discipline
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to partner with leadership.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on role

Systems Experience

  • Xero or similar ERP
  • Excel and PowerPoint
  • System integrations with CRM
