We are recruiting an experienced actuary to join an insurance linked securities (ILS) function in an investment capacity.
The role will see the individual responsible for the whole investments process: from initial submission analysis, deciding what counts and what doesn't, performing modelling to understand expected losses, estimating an appropriate price for the deal given internal guidelines, writing up an investment memo, defending it in front of the investments committee etc. The team is involved in the whole range of ILS products.
Please note that we are looking for a very specific skill-set:
- We are looking for a non-life reinsurance actuary; you will have experience of working in pricing for a reinsurance company, or perhaps the treaty team of a major (re) insurer or in a similar capacity at a reinsurance broker.
- You need some familiarity with property-related risks and how to analyse them; ideally you will have used major cat modelling tools (AIR, RMS/Moody's etc). More familiarity will ease your transition into the role.
- You need some aptitude for coding; no specific tools required but R and/or Python knowledge would be very handy as a lot of internal analysis is done using them. Again, more knowledge will ease your transition into the role but is not a deal-breaker.
Any familiarity with retro, collateralised reinsurance, ILWs, cat bonds etc is very welcome but not essential and will not rule anyone out. Knowledge of financial maths or portfolio management is again useful but not essential.
The role comes with a very competitive base salary and a much higher bonus than one would expect in the (re) insurance world, reflecting the investment environment.
