The Organisation
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the national governing body for rugby union in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing rugby at all levels, from grassroots to the elite. The Role
- As a member of the RFU board, bring a strategic mindset to ensure that the Union meets its vision, performance objectives and national governing body obligations.
- Provide support, insight and challenge to the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Performance Rugby in the management of the professional and high-performance rugby ecosystem.
- Be an ambassador and spokesperson for the RFU in relation to high performance rugby matters, alongside the CEO.
- Be an effective Board member, participating actively in Board discussions and supporting management outside Board meetings where required.
The Candidate
- Direct experience of high-performance rugby, as a player or coach/manager (This may include day-to-day work with players and support staff in a high-performance environment) This is highly likely to include experience of playing and/or coaching international rugby.
- Passion for the game of rugby, including knowledge and experience of the key strategic issues facing the professional game.
- Outstanding, proven leadership skills: someone who will enthuse and inspire employees and a wide range of external stakeholders (including volunteers).
- Committed, loyal and highly trustworthy and someone who demonstrates the values of the RFU.
