This role presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join an established Customs Department within HANNON TRANSPORT. It offers the opportunity to gain valuable expertise and hands-on experience in a high-growth, highly regulated sector, becoming an integral part of one of Ireland's leading logistics companies. You will work closely with internal teams, customers, hauliers, ferry operators, and regulatory authorities to ensure the smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders.
A key focus of the role will be supporting European Transit (T2) movements crossing the GB landbridge, including:
- Coordinating customs transit documentation for EU-origin goods moving via Great Britain
- Managing SPS-controlled consignments, including the preparation and submission of CHEDs, health documentation, and pre-notifications to competent authorities (e.g. DAFM, DAERA, NVWA, SIVEP)
- Ensuring alignment between transit documents, commercial paperwork, and SPS declarations to avoid delays, inspections, or penalties
- Monitoring movements through ports and Border Control Posts to ensure compliance and timely release
Full training will be provided, including structured support on customs systems, transit procedures, and SPS requirements. Flexibility with working patterns is required, reflecting the time-critical nature of cross-border logistics and port operations. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Computerised data entry into multiple bespoke customs software packages - such as Traces Trader Support Service and Thyme IT.
- Ensuring compliance with all customs procedures by properly documenting and controlling all mandatory customs functions
- Liaising with various stakeholders throughout the customs process to ensure the efficient transport of goods
- Ensuring customs form completion as per the specific requirements of our customers
- Completion of a unique customs training program to enhance customs expertise
- Working as part of a dynamic Customs Department to meet tight deadlines
- Other tasks include query resolution, month end reporting and other general administrative tasks
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
- Essential: 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C (Maths & English), ICT related experience (Microsoft Packages), Ability to multi-task, work as part of a team and work to tight deadlines, Strong communication skills
- Desirable: Previous customs related experience preferable but not essential, 1 years experience working in a fast paced, logistics office environment
