Our client is a multinational shipping group headquartered in central London, operating across international maritime markets. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join their established finance team and take ownership of the AP function while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls.
- Full ownership of supplier accounts, including setup of new vendors and ongoing maintenance of master data.
- Oversee the processing of purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding, authorisation, and compliance with company policies.
- Review and approve payment runs in line with agreed timetables.
- Manage staff expenses and company credit card reconciliations.
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Act as a key point of contact for supplier queries, resolving issues efficiently and maintaining strong external relationships.
- Support month-end close processes, audits, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with continuous improvement of AP processes and systems.
Role Requirements
- Proven experience in an Accounts Payable role, with supervisory or senior-level responsibility.
- SUN Systems experience is essential.
- Prior experience within shipping, logistics, or asset-intensive industries is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
