Our client is a leading multinational Lubricants business with a strong international presence. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Area Business Manager to develop and grow their Yorkshire & East Midlands territory. Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this field-based role will focus on winning new business, managing existing customer relationships, and driving profitable sales growth across the automotive sector.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a designated sales territory, identifying and securing new business opportunities
- Manage and develop relationships with existing customers to maximise sales and profitability
- Deliver against sales, margin and business growth targets
- Plan and manage customer visits efficiently, maintaining an active pipeline of prospects
- Negotiate commercial agreements to achieve the best possible outcomes for both customers and the business
- Deliver product presentations and provide commercial recommendations to customers
- Monitor customer performance, identify growth opportunities and introduce additional product lines where appropriate
- Produce accurate sales forecasts, activity reports and pipeline updates
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify new commercial opportunities
- Work closely with internal teams including Marketing and Customer Support to deliver an excellent customer experience
- Ensure effective credit management and compliance with company policies and HSEQ standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience within a field-based Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Territory Manager or Area Business Manager role
- Minimum of three years' B2B sales experience, ideally within automotive, manufacturing, engineering, industrial, lubricants, parts or technical products
- Proven track record of generating new business and exceeding sales targets
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own territory and prioritise workload effectively
- Confident communicator with excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong IT skills with experience of CRM systems and sales reporting
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience within the automotive aftermarket or technical product sales would be advantageous but is not essential.
