Our client is a Central London-based shipping group with a diverse portfolio spanning vessel, mining, and infrastructure investments. The Shipping Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across the Group’s shipping, trading, and investment activities. You will liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide insightful financial analysis and support investment reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily bookkeeping and monthly accounts for onshore/offshore shipping companies, commodity trading, and holding companies
  • Assist with offshore account consolidation and AP/AR settlements related to cargo, freight, and ancillary costs
  • Analyse shipping and trading P&L, operational performance, KPIs, and OPEX, providing clear commentary on variances
  • Produce monthly investment accounts and statements, liaising with commercial, asset management, operations, legal, and finance teams
  • Manage investor reporting, including quarterly updates, presentations, and briefings, translating financial results into actionable investment narratives
  • Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial management alongside the CFO
  • Supervise junior staff and coordinate departmental financial operations
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s ISO-certified Information Management System and contribute to quality, environmental, and health & safety initiatives

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in shipping or similar sector
  • Strong interest in shipping, logistics, commodity trading, and investment reporting
  • Proficient in IMOS, Xero, Fathom, MS Office, and banking platforms
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
  • Career-focused and eager to grow within an expanding business
